Cuming & Gillespie's COVID-19 Statement - Read Post

Petrina joined Cuming and Gillespie as an associate in 2014. Before joining the firm, Petrina spent a number of years in Ontario where she obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa in 2013. Following the completion of her law degree, Petrina moved to Toronto where she articled for a premier plaintiff personal injury firm. She continued working as an associate in Toronto after completing her articles and being called to the Ontario bar.

Petrina obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary before moving to Ottawa to pursue her legal education. While in law school, Petrina was chosen to represent the University of Ottawa at the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association’s Advocacy Competition, the OTLA Cup. In her final year of study, Petrina received the Beament Green Prize in Trial Advocacy, the Rita Marguerite Houle Prize for the highest standing in the course “Art de la plaidoirie”, as well as the Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP prize for having achieved the highest standing in the Trial Advocacy Course.

Petrina’s practice is dedicated primarily to personal injury, disability claims, product liability and medical malpractice. Petrina witnessed the effects of serious injury firsthand after a close friend was injured in a devastating motor vehicle collision. She is well aware of the difference a skilled and compassionate lawyer can make in times of crisis and she is devoted to helping individuals and families navigate the legal process.

Petrina is committed to providing pro bono legal services and is excited to be part of a law firm with strong community involvement. She is proud to be working at a firm with a keen social interest and a commitment to community programs such as the Patient Experience Program at the Foothills Hospital.

Outside of the office, Petrina enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling, and attending live theatre and comedy shows.
