RYAN LIU, Calgary Medical Malpractice and Personal Injury Lawyer

Ryan joined Cuming & Gillespie LLP as an associate in 2026, and his practice focuses on medical malpractice and personal injury law. Prior to joining the firm, Ryan completed his articles and started his legal career at the Department of Justice in Vancouver.

Ryan was born and raised in Calgary and moved to Vancouver to obtain his Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia, majoring in Philosophy with a minor in English Literature.

Ryan attended law school at the University of Victoria, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 2022. During law school, Ryan volunteered with the University of British Columbia’s Law Students’ Legal Assistance Program and spent a semester with the University of Victoria’s Law Centre, providing free legal advice and services to underprivileged clients facing a wide range of legal issues.

Outside of the office, Ryan enjoys staying active by hiking, backcountry camping, and skiing. At home, Ryan enjoys reading and playing board games. As a first-generation immigrant and the first lawyer in his family, Ryan is passionate about advocating for and serving marginalized members of the community.
