Cuming & Gillespie LLP: Founding Donor of the Foothills Hospital Brain Injury Patient Experience Program
At Cuming & Gillespie LLP, we have always believed that rehabilitation from a serious personal injury is just as important as obtaining significant financial recovery. We consistently look for ways to combine the legal process and the rehabilitation process in innovative ways that better serve our clients. It is because of this desire for innovation that Cuming & Gillespie LLP is proud to be the founding donors of the Foothills Hospital Brain Injury Patient Experience Program.
Our firm has made a substantial gift to the Calgary Health Trust that will be used to increase the positive experiences that patients have in a hospital setting. The program will additionally assist people who have suffered brain or spinal injuries, allow them to focus on their rehabilitation while they are in hospital, and help them to transition back into the community once they are discharged. Our gift helps over 2,500 new patients every year who suffered serious injuries.
Cuming & Gillespie LLP continues to be an active participant in this program. We provide legal seminars on Accident Benefits and legal options for injured people. To learn more about the Foothills Hospital Brain Injury Patient Experience Program, please visit the Calgary Health Trust website.
Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Women’s Legal Forum Gala
Cuming & Gillespie LLP is proud to have sponsored the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Women’s Legal Forum Gala events in 2017 and 2019, which collectively raised over $100,000 for the Calgary Drug Treatment Court and the Women’s Centre of Calgary. Partner Maia Tomljanovic had the honour of chairing both events.
Chair-Leaders “Enabling Access” Event
Due to the nature of the work we do at Cuming & Gillespie LLP, representing catastrophically injured individuals, we are very cognizant of the challenges that individuals with disabilities face daily in our communities. It is for this reason that we proudly support the Chair-Leaders Enabling Access event. This event is put on each year by the Alberta branch of the Canadian Paraplegic Association, the Calgary Health Trust, and the Tertiary Neuro Rehabilitation Program at the Foothills Medical Centre.
The purpose of this event is to promote barrier-free access and more inclusivity in our communities and workplaces for those who suffer from spinal cord injuries and other disabilities. The Chair-Leaders organizing committee has successfully met its goal of informing, entertaining and providing disability awareness through this event. At Cuming & Gillespie LLP we are very proud to have been able to contribute to this event, and intend on contributing further in the future.
