Cuming & Gillespie LLP is pleased to announce that four of its partners have been included in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada™. Since its first publication in 1983, Best Lawyers has earned a reputation as one of the most respected guides to legal talent and achievement.

Over the years, Best Lawyers has become a trusted and impartial resource for legal referrals, relied upon by the legal community, media, and the public. After launching its first international list in 2006, the publication has grown significantly and now highlights leading lawyers in more than 75 countries around the globe.

Recognition in The Best Lawyers in Canada™ is based on geographic region and area of practice. Lawyers are nominated by their peers and evaluated for their professional acumen. Those who receive high peer feedback are verified for their active practice status and good professional standing before being selected.

Now in its 40th year, Best Lawyers remains the oldest and among the most respected legal rankings publications worldwide. For decades, it has served as a bridge between clients and distinguished lawyers across numerous jurisdictions and practice areas. Its recognitions appear in leading local, national, and international publications.

Each nomination is reviewed through a confidential peer-review process, in which currently listed lawyers provide feedback on nominees within their practice area and region. Lawyers who consistently receive strong support are thoroughly vetted to confirm their continued private practice before receiving formal recognition. Those selected are honoured with the title of Best Lawyers award recipient.

Mike Grassie: Recognized for Personal Injury Litigation

Mike Grassie has been recognized by Best Lawyers for his work in Personal Injury Litigation.

Mike joined Cuming & Gillespie LLP in 2016 after completing his articles and working as an associate at a Calgary insurance defence firm. His shift from defence to plaintiff-side personal injury litigation has provided him with valuable insight into insurance industry practices and defence strategies, which he now applies to advocate effectively for injured clients.

Before entering law, Mike earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This scientific training enhances his ability to understand and assess complex medical evidence, particularly in personal injury, medical malpractice, and professional negligence claims. His practice includes cases involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and other serious and catastrophic injury-related matters.
